We want everyone to be able to use Future Academy, including people who rely on a screen reader, on the keyboard alone, or on magnifying the page.
Conformance level
The platform is partially conformant with WCAG 2.1 level AA. "Partially" means most of the standard is met, with known issues we are working on — listed below rather than hidden.
What works today
- The site is fully operable by keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator.
- Every page declares its language and direction, so a screen reader pronounces it correctly — Arabic right-to-left, English left-to-right.
- Buttons with no text (password reveal, carousel arrows) carry a spoken label.
- Decorative images are marked as decorative, so a screen reader skips them instead of reading a URL.
- Pages work on a phone and at 200% browser zoom without losing content.
- Form errors are written as text, never signalled by colour alone.
- The operating system's reduce motion setting is respected.
Known issues we are working on
- Colour contrast: some secondary grey text falls below the required ratio.
- Links inside paragraphs: some are distinguished by colour alone, without an underline.
In the same review we fixed what mattered most: buttons with no spoken label, and images with no text alternative.
Shortcuts that help
- Tab moves between elements, Shift + Tab goes back.
- Enter or Space activates a button or link.
- Esc closes any dialog.
- Ctrl + + enlarges the page.
Hit a barrier?
If something stops you using the platform, tell us from the contact page and mention the page and the assistive tool you use. We treat these reports as a priority and reply with what we did.
How we review
We run an automated axe-core audit over the public pages on every significant change, and check keyboard navigation by hand. This statement is updated with each review.
